The Sons of History is hosting its first history event April 17 at the Spirit of Texas Bank. We chose this location because it is more than a bank - it is a museum of Texas history, showcasing Texas art, artifacts, and iconic sculptures. This event is being conducted in conjunction with the Texas Heritage League, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving the history of the Lone Star State. We will be having two incredible speakers who are renowned for their knowledge of Texas history and their work regarding the Republic of Texas. Dr. Stephen Hardin and Denton Florian will be our distinguished guests. Dr. Hardin is the author of seven books on Texas history, including the award winning works Texian Iliad and Lust for Glory. He was a consultant for the movie The Alamo starring Dennis Quaid and Billy Bob Thornton. He has been interviewed in two Texas history documentaries: The Alamo: A True Story of Courage and The Real West. He has been a guest commentator on The History Channel, A&E, Fox News' Legends & Lies, and NBC's Today Show. He is also a professor of history at McMurry University. Florian is the Executive Producer of the five-time EMMY Award winning documentary film, Sam Houston: American Statesman, Soldier, and Pioneer, widely considered to be the definitive work on Houston, and is a sought-after speaker on the life of Sam Houston.
